I’m surprised how few people seem to know about the benefits of subscribing to the RMTS OnStage electronic newsletter. RMTS stands for the Royal and MacPherson Theatres Society, representing Victoria’s two major stage venues for live productions.
It costs nothing to sign up for the newsletter, and the RMTS doesn’t bombard its followers with updates, which is nice. You’ll get periodic updates on upcoming concerts, comedy, dance, and theatre shows. Occasionally, you’ll be given an opportunity to buy early release tickets to a particular performance. I got third-row tickets to see the Indigo Girls this way, thanks to a full day’s jump on the wider public release of tickets.
The best perk for being an RMTS OnStage newsletter subscriber, though, are the offers for discounted tickets. Savings may range from 25% to 50% off regular prices. Sometimes these deals crop up before a production begins, to stir public interest. Other times, the specials are a way to boost slower sales toward the end of a show’s run.
Of course, tickets to some shows are never offered at a discount, but don’t you want to hear about the ones that are? To be kept in the loop, sign up here.
