JUNE 2, 2012: FULLY REVISED AND EXPANDED
Where do you go when you feel the urge to celebrate, but don’t want to spend a bundle on drinks? Well, it depends on the night of the week. Pubs, clubs*, and restaurants around Victoria offer various special discounts by the day. Following here are some of the best drink deals in the city.
Editor’s note: Fun is fun but, please, always drink responsibly. BC Transit’s fleet of buses and Victoria’s many taxi cabs are there to get you home safely. You can also check out this article on Victoria’s professional designated driver services.
* Oddly, several Victoria nightclubs did not respond to my inquiries about their weekly drink specials. C’est la vie. It’s their loss not to be included in the list! Please note that Scrimp or Splurge cannot guarantee the availability of specials nor be held responsible for changes in pricing at individual establishments. Please call ahead to businesses to confirm their ongoing specials.

There were a few places missing, for instance Fifth Street Bar and Grill has the cheapest pints (Canadian) in Victoria, depending on when you go (usually about $4 for the Blue Buck on Monday, it changes depending on when you go, I think they have shots of Jager for $4 on Friday’s for instance). Also, Cenote on Yates has a deal on British pints of beer, $5 during the hockey playoff’s. I know I’m missing a few places. In any case…
Cabin 12 has $11-13 pitchers of Philips every night of the week which is worth a mention since it’s cheaper than all of the above jug specials (and better beer).
Bartholomew’s has $6 Seafood Caesars on Sundays (regular ~$10).
Comes in a glass rimmed with Montreal Steak Spice, 1 mussel, 2 prawns, beans, olives, hot pepper and a lemon and lime wedge.

Thanks for that great tip, Sid. It sounds like the perfect blend of cocktail and appetizer in one! Yum.
