BC Ferries CoastSaver Special: $39.95 for Car and Driver

Update: June 22, 2012. Just a reminder that this is the last weekend to enjoy a substantially discounted ferry crossing with B.C. Ferries’ latest CoastSaver special.

Trips between Vancouver Island and the Mainland just got a whole lot more appealing with BC Ferries‘ revival of its CoastSaver special sailing rates for May 25 through June 25, 2012.

If you’re planning a trip within those dates — either between Victoria and Vancouver, or between Nanaimo and Vancouver — schedule your ferry rides for Friday through Monday for substantial savings.

The BC Ferries’ CoastSaver rates below are for one-way passage, Friday through Monday, May 25 to June 25, 2012.

  • Adult fares, regularly $14.85, will be reduced to $9.95.
  • Children aged 5 to 11 will pay $5 rather than the usual $7.45. Kids under 5 ride free.
  • The charge for passenger vehicles up to 20 feet long, usually $49.25, will be $30.
  • Motorcycle riders will pay $15 for their bikes rather than $24.65.

Again, these prices apply only to the following routes: Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay, Tsawwassen-Duke Point, and Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay. Any applicable taxes and fees are extra.

I believe it also applies to Mondays, if you check the BC ferries website link above. Thanks for the info.

BC Ferries should offer the Experience Card for us Islanders that have to travel between Schwartz Bay and Tsawwassen. They offer it to all the little island hopping routes but where they really need to show customer appreciation is on the major routes. They are worried about losing money because the ridership is down but no wonder; who can afford to go back and forth to the mainland anymore. It is almost like they are holding us hostage unless we pay their rip-off rates!!
